Spreading
the Light of ISLAM (UBHAQA)
Mr.
Dawood Ngwane the author of "Ubhaqa" who held a high position
in the Catholic Church embraced Islam on 3rd March 1996 at the age
of 65 years. On the 25th of October 2002 his book "Ubhaqa"
(The Light) was launched by the IPCI at a colourful function at
the Orient Hall in Durban by Guest of Honour King Goodwill Zwelithini,
King of the Zulus in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Mr. Dawood Ngwane who is a
trustee of the IPCI extended an invitation to King Zwelithini to
embrace Islam and "be the guiding light to lead the Zulu Nation"
into the fold of Islam. The author assured the King that Islam has
the solution to most of the problems in the country such as teenage
pregnancies, immorality, poverty and alcoholism. Concerning the
book "Ubhaqa" the 72 year old author said that he had
"deliberately" written the book in Zulu. “I thought
of my own people, the Zulu Nation, knowing the misery in which the
western civilization had plunged them into.. and knowing the depth
of ignorance and deception to which they had been subjected”.
There was an overwhelming response for this book and within two
weeks, the first publication was finished. The second edition of
the book is being published in conjunction with the World Assembly
of Muslim Youth - WAMY based in Riyadh - Saudi Arabia. The book
has been translated into English by Mr. Dawood Ngwane and is expected
to be in print by June 2003.
Attorney Mr. Dawood Ngwane author of Ubhaqa was
appointed a Magistrate for the District of Umlazi by the South Africa
Government. Lindiwe Hendricks, the Deputy Minister of Trade &
Industry is the daughter of Dawood Ngwane.
