The power of a messenger

1st February 2024

A question was received from a Christian wherein he brought forth a hadith that allegedly showed that Nabi (SAW) could not stop his death.

Answer:
Nabi ﷺ is not the controller of the world. He is the greatest messenger but not God. He is a human being who we try to emulate. He taught us true monotheism, which is that only God decides, as in this story.

However, when Jesus, who you believe is God, becomes incapable, then that is a big issue.
Jesus cannot do miracles in this story because of people’s unbelief. He can’t get them to believe, nor can he do all his miracles.

Then Jesus said to them, “Only in his hometown, among his relatives, and in his own household is a prophet without honor.” So He could not perform any miracles there, except to lay His hands on a few of the sick and heal them. And He was amazed at their unbelief. (Mark 6:4-6)

Here Jesus is unable to tell that the fig tree doesn’t have fruit until he gets there.

The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. 13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to find out if it had any fruit. When he reached it, he found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. 14 Then he said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard him say it.
(Mark 11:12-14)

Human beings do not have the ability to control the universe and so the story about the prophet Muhammad ﷺ makes sense. How do these stories about Jesus make sense if you believe he is God?
